Hello, world!
I am Dialid Santiago, also known as Quant Girl —a mathematician with nine years of experience working as a Quant (short for Financial Quantitative Analyst).
My work focuses on designing and implementing mathematical models to price financial instruments and manage risk across a broad range of asset classes, including Equities, Credit, Commodities, and Rates.
I hold a PhD in Statistics from the University of Warwick, where I spent four exciting years researching non-linear stochastic processes. Prior to that, I earned an M.Sc. in Probability and Statistics and a B.Sc. in Mathematics.
Currently, I work in the Front Office Quant team at Bank of America. Over the course of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with different teams at institutions like Citigroup, Barclays, and The Co-operative Bank, contributing to a wide range of projects across the financial industry.
I’m passionate about turning academic research into practical tools that solve real problems in finance. I also have a strong interest in data visualization and use it extensively to communicate complex concepts clearly and reveal meaningful insights.
Last but certainly not least—I’m a proud mom to a spirited toddler ❤️ who keeps me on my toes and fills most of my so-called “free” time. When I do get a quiet moment, I enjoy building open-source tools and writing here.
Five random facts about me
This website
I created this website as a kind of digital notebook—a place to collect and share my thoughts, notes, and insights on topics I care about, mainly around mathematics, programming, finance, and my experience working as a quant.
This site follows the philosophy of a
digital garden 🪴, a concept that offers an alternative to the traditional blog.
In a digital garden, ideas are treated like living things: they’re planted, nurtured, and allowed to grow over time. Instead of focusing on publishing polished, time-stamped articles, a digital garden encourages ongoing exploration, note-taking, and iterative writing.
This approach feels especially fitting for subjects like mathematics and finance, where learning is rarely linear and insights often build gradually over time.
This site is intentionally simple—no ads, no tracking, no sponsored content, and no paywalls —because I believe educational content should be freely accessible and, whenever possible, open source.
